Bio Aiko Pras (100 words)

AIKO PRAS (a.pras@utwente.nl) is professor in the area of Network Operations and Management at the University of Twente, the Netherlands and member of the Design and Analysis of Communication Systems Group. He received a PhD degree for his thesis titled "Network Management Architectures". His research interests include network management technologies, network monitoring, measurements and security. He is chairing the IFIP Technical Committee on "Communications Systems", and is Coordinator of the European Network of Excellence on "Management of the Future Internet" (FLAMINGO). He is steering committee member of several conferences, including IM/NOMS and CNSM, and series/associate editor of ComMag, IJNM and TNSM.

AIKO PRAS (a.pras@utwente.nl) is full professor in the area of Network Operations and Management at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Twente, the Netherlands, and is member of the Design and Analysis of Communication Systems Group (DACS). He received a Ph.D. degree from the same university for his thesis titled "Network Management Architectures". His research interests include network management technologies, network monitoring and measurements, and network security. He is the coordinator of the European Network of Excellence on Management of the Future Internet (FLAMINGO), coordinator of the EU Future Internet Cluster and has participated in many European and Dutch research projects, as member, evaluator and as reviewer. He has contributed to research and standardization activities as a founding member of the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) Network Management Research Group (NMRG) and as RFC author. He is chairing the IFIP Technical Committee 6 on "Communications Systems", is editor of the IEEE Communications Magazine series on "Network & Service Management", associate editor of the International Journal of Network Management (IJNM), and Editorial Advisory Board member for the Journal of Network and Systems Management (JNSM). He is Steering Committee member of the IFIP/IEEE NOMS and IM Symposia (NISC), CNSM, AIMS, FUNEMS, as well as the EUNICE Consortium. He was/is (Technical Program) Co-Chair of several conferences, including DSOM'01, IM'05, EUNICE'07, TMA'09, AIMS'09 and Manweek'09.

He is responsible for the SimpleWeb, which is one of the main web servers in the area of Internet management.
He is the coordinator of the European Network of Excellence (NoE) on Management of the Future Internet (FLAMINGO), and has been research leader and executive committee member in the European NoE on Management of the Internet and Complex Services (EMANICS), and has participated in many European and Dutch research projects. He has managed several projects, including the Dutch Internet Next Generation research project, which had a total project budget of 8.3 MEuro (1999-2002), and the NWO management of DISH applications project on Internet Accounting. He is / has been the UT coordinator for projects like IOP-Sequal (2008-2012), Gigaport Next Generation - Research on Networking (2005-2007) and the EU FP5 CANDLE project (1999-2003). He has been WP leader in projects like Mobile and Wireless (2004-2005) and Measuring, Modelling and Cost Allocation for Quality of Service (2002-2004). He has many years of experience in European projects, as reviewer for projects like Alicante, Aragorn, AutoI, COMET, Efipsans, Envision, Scampi and MOME, as evaluator of FP6 projects, and as member within projects like FLAMINGO, SALUS, UNIVERSELF, EMANICS, Candle, Cassiopeia, PANGLOSS and SEDOS. He is also leader of the EU Future Internet Cluster.
